Unemployment down in the Kootenays
Unemployment is down around the region.
In March there were 51-hundred people looking for work, a rate of 6.4 percent, down from last year at the same time when there were 2 hundred more people job hunting and a rate of 7.3 percent.
In terms of employment, that number has seen a big increase up to 74-thousand 9-hundred, that means that there are 7, 700 more people working around the region.
There was also a big jump in the labour force, and the population increased by 500.
Stats Can says there were more jobs in accommodation and food services, and natural resources
Nationally, the economy added 19-thousand, 4-hundred jobs in March, far more than expected, but the rate rose to 6.7 percent, from 6.6 percent in February.
