Vehicle theft in Grand Forks ends with arrest in Midway 8 hours later

What started with a stolen vehicle in Grand Forks, ended with an arrest in Midway Monday, nearly 8 hours later.

Police got a call about a theft of a vehicle in progress near Interfor Monday afternoon.

Grand Forks RCMP attempted to stop the vehicle on Central Avenue, but it fled west on Highway 3 towards Greenwood.

The vehicle was located there a short time later, but due to risk to the public, the vehicle was not pursued.

It was later found at the Midway Arena.

RCMP and a police dog made attempts to locate the suspect for several hours and were finally able to arrest the man after receiving information on his location and he was finally found hiding in a shed on private property.

The man is facing a number of charges including flight from police, driving while prohibited and attempted theft of a vehicle..the man also has several warrants out of Ontario.
