Victoria was the site of Columbia River Treaty Negotiations last week

The Columbia Rasin Treaty Negotiations shifted to Victoria last week.

Kootenay West MLA and Minister responsible for the treaty Katrine Conroy, says there was an honest exchange of views and perspectives trying to find common ground on flood risk management and hydro power coordination, as well as other treaty benefits.

When the original treaty was negotiated it was only about flood control and generation and she says it needs to be brought into the 21st Century.

Coming out of the latest round of talks, the negotiating teams have decided to conduct technical work between negotiating rounds, in order to support the progress of the discussions.

The next round of negotiation meetings is coming up June 19th and 20th in Washington DC.
