West Kootenay Paddlers part of the Monster and Sea 24
A team of 8 West Kootenay Paddlers will be part of a grassroots movement to raise money for families facing cancer this weekend.
The Monster and Sea 24 started in Seattle in 2015.
This year there are more than 40 teams participating across the US, Canada and the Cayman Islands.
Paddler Andras Lukacs says the Kootenay team will be part of a 24 hour paddleboard relay on Kootenay Lake on Saturday starting at 8 in Harrop....he says the purpose is two fold, to raise funds, and to inspire residents to get out and not let life pass them by.
Team Kootenay will give out donations in $1000 increments to families in need and how it's used is for the family to decide.

Residents are also encouraged to go out and paddle with the team.
