Work on the Paulson Bridge starting this week

A big project is starting this week on the Paulson Bridge between Castlegar and Christina Lake.

Deck resurfacing and other rehabilitation work will get under way, providing a safer and more reliable structure and approaches for people travelling along Highway 3.

The Paulson bridge was originally built in 1962.

Along with deck resurfacing, the rehabilitation will include the replacement of deck joints and bridge deck overhangs, installation of new concrete roadside barriers, and improvements to roadway drainage.

During the $6-million rehabilitation project, single-lane alternating traffic will be in place 24 hours a day with up to 10 minute delays.

Work is expected to be completed in the fall.
