Work on the Stores To Shores Revitalization Project is under way again in Nelson

The final phase of the Stores to Shores Revitalization project is under way in Nelson.

Mayor Deb Kozak says it's an important part of the project, and will include contractors boring under the tracks so storm drains can be put in.

That will alleviate some of the flooding they've been experiencing during heavy rainfall events.

There will also be major improvements to water sewer and roads and work will include a brand new park at the bottom of Hall Street.

Kozak says there is some inconvenience to businesses and motorists along Hall Street, but she says at any time during the construction phase there will be open access to stores and shops on Lakeside Drive, even if it's down to one way traffic.

She says they had a positive meeting with businesses in the area recently, and they have weekly project updates at www.nelson.ca

The City received a grant of over 4.4 million from the federal government, which funds 66% of the project.
