Local orphaned bears to be released back into the wild
A couple of orphaned bears will soon be released back in to the wild locally.
One was an orphaned bear found in the Baldface Mountain area near Nelson, named Summit, and Nina, who was seen around the Rossland area around Christmas time.
Angelika Langen is the Manager and Co-founder of the Northern Wildlife Shelter Near Smithers.
She says they're 2 of 32 black bear orphans taken in last year, along with other orphaned or injured animals.
The bears will be released in the next few days locally, with locations coming from Wildlife biologists and Conservation.
She says in the past 29 years almost 5-hundred bears have been rehabilitated.
Meanwhile Northern Lights is a registered charity, completely funded by donations.
