$2017 JumpStart donation from Penticton Speedway Foundation
The Penticton Speedway Foundation presented a cheque for $2017 to Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program Wednesday, a charity dedicated to removing financial barriers so all kids have the opportunity to get off the sidelines and into the game.
It’s about giving kids from families in financial need the same chance to participate as their neighbours, their classmates and their friends. Whether it’s the chance to try a new sport or to continue with a favourite one, no kid should be left out.
The money was raised by spectators, racers and crews throughout the race season at the Penticton Speedway, specifically through the “Limo Ball Toss” - where you throw a ball onto the track, aiming to get it in one of three buckets on the roof of a limo driving on the racetrack. It’s a lot of fun and a challenge too!
JumpStart helps equip kids for life because quality physical activity in kids does more than improve health and well-being, it helps build confidence, leadership, productivity and creativity and connects kids to their communities.
The Penticton Speedway Foundation will continue presenting funds to local charities throughout the year.
