Funding for Okanagan College Penticton Campus

Okanagan College in Penticton is getting more than half a million dollars from the provincial government, to help purchase new trades equipment.

Minister of Advanced Education, Andrew Wilkinson was joined by Penticton-MLA Dan Ashton at the campus to make the announcment on Thursday.

He says the investment is to help make sure young people can get schooled here, and stay here.

"We're making sure these young people are getting highly skilled trades training, so they can stay here in the Okanagan and earn a very good living servicing the community," says Wilkinson.

The money will be used to buy things like, a natural gas oven for the refrigeration and air conditioning program.

The province also announced over 200-thousand dollars to improve transportation services in the Okanagan-Similkameen School District.
