Home Destroyed in OK Falls Fire

An empty home burned to the ground in Okanagan Falls early Thursday morning.

Captain Peter Maliepaard with the OK Falls Volunteer Fire Department says, it happened near Highway 97 and the old information pull-out around 2 AM.

"When we got there, the structure was fully involved," says Maliepaard. "We attacked it and knocked the flames down, and we had to get an excavator in because the structure was collapsing in on itself."

Mailepaard says once the structure was down, they finished putting out the fire.

All said and done, crews were on scene for about six hours.

Given the amount of damage, he says it's likely cause of the fire will not be found out.

It's believed the home had recently been sold, and the fire department is currently in the process of tracking down the owner.

No injuries to report.
