Hotel could be coming to Town of Oliver

The Mayor of the Town of Oliver says, a hotel could be coming to the area.

In January, The Town put a call out for hotel developers to consider the Oliver area, and Mayor Ron Hovanes says, they've heard from a few interested parties since.

He says they're currently working with one of them.

"We're quite excited and definitely keeping our fingers crossed,' says Hovanes. "Their proposal is to build up to an 80 room hotel, they're suggesting with a pool and some form of a restaurant, and it would be on the hike and bike path in downtown Oliver."

He says it's roughly a 10 million dollar project.

Given the spot is on land owned by the Town, under the community charter, they have to do a number of things, including publicizing that they are offering a piece of town property for sale.
