City Council has directed staff to negotiate a five-year agreement to host IRONMAN Canada from 2020 through to 2024...

The topic was discussed at length last night inside council chambers...The vote in favour was unanimous.

The annual cost to taxpayers will be $299,000 in cash and $111,000 in-kind support.

In 2004, it was estimated Ironman’s Penticton economic impact was in the range of $12.5M.

A total of 2,600 hundred athletes are expected to take part, bringing in excess of 10,000 visitors to the city.
