Chamber presents first quarter prize for #PentictonFirst campaign
Amanda McIvor is the first quarter winner of the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce's #PentictonFirst campaign.
There were almost 300 entries in the first quarter.
The presentation was made to McIvor by Chamber President Nicole Clark and Chamber Director Lyndie Hill.
“The prize package was a Chute Lake Lodge prize pack generously donated by HooDoo Adventures”, said Chamber President Nicole Clark. She will enjoy a one-night stay for two at the lodge, an all-day bike rental with shuttle service back to the lodge from Penticton, and a one-hour canoe rental. This prize is valued at $320.
The campaign was started in January to encourage Pentictonites to support locally owned businesses. It will run for the entire year with three more quarterly prizes to be won. Each time a participant uses the hashtag #PentictonFirst, tags the Chamber and checks in (or posts a picture) at a local business, they get one entry into the draw. Clark noted that we are one week in to the 2nd quarter campaign. The prize, which will be announced later this week, will be drawn on Friday, July 6, 2019.
Clark said, “The ripple effect of spending a dollar at a locally owned business is tremendous. This is what keeps our businesses open and our residents employed.” She noted that cities only succeed if enough people risk their own capital, time and effort, believing it is worthwhile to make a gamble on their futures by starting their own business.
The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic, trusted and respected business authority that drives economic and social growth and improvement on behalf of, and in support of our members and the community.
