RCMP release name of suspect in Penticton shootings
Penticton RCMP held its third media briefing in two days Tuesday morning, at which time they released the name of the suspect charged in Monday's shottings.
John Brittain, 68, a former City of Penticton engineer, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder.
He made his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
Officers were first called at about 10:30 a.m. Monday to a home at the corner of Lakeview and Heales for a report of gunfire, where they found a deceased male.
The suspect fled the scene and made his way to a home at Murray and Cornwall Drives, where three people were shot and killed.
Brittain turned himself in to RCMP within an hour of the shootings.
Police say they are not releasing any names of the victims at this point.
