Penticton going after 2021 Canadian Junior A Hockey Championships

It's full steam ahead for Penticton's interest in hosting the Canadian Junior A Hockey Championships in 2021.

Bid representative Stuart Ladyman and SOEC General Manager Dean Clark addressed Penticton council Tuesday...asking for a 100,000 dollar committment from the city in order to fulful bid obligations to Hockey Canada.
The motion was given unanimous support, with funds coming out of the 2020-21 budget.

The bidding group, made up of the SOEC and the Penticton Vees, believes the event can turn a profit in excess of 60 thousand dollars, which would be handed over to a Legacy Fund.

The winning bid could be named as early as this July.
