Police Files see thefts, arrests, and an impaired driver

Penticton RCMP say, they've seen a rise in bicycle thefts recently.

Two were stolen last Tuesday; A black 'trek' bicycle was taken from an underground parking spot on Lakeshore Drive East, where it had been chained up.

And a grey, Canondale Mountainbike was taken from an underground garage on Skaha Lake Road.

It too, was locked up with a chain.

Elsewhere, a black Ford F-350 had it's passenger side door punched out, while parked at a motel on Lakeshore Drive West on Wednesday night. Thieves made off with a black and deck cutter inside, that was new in the box.

Later in the week, a 2011 Dodge Caravan was stolen from a Penticton Ave home.  The van was located on Kilwinning St an hour later with items missing but with no damage.

Penticton RCMP arrested an impaired driver on Sunday night.

Police say they recieved a report of a car idling in the parking lot of a business on Duncan Avenue West around midnight.

When they arrived, they found a man inside the car, impaired. He was given a 90 day immediate road-side prohibition.

Elsewhere, a honda civic was stolen from a home on Old Main Road in Naramata.

Police say the keys to the civic had been left in a nearby truck, which was also broken into. A wallet was also taken from the truck.

Four sea-cans were hit at Vantage Marine on Industrial Avenue West..

A barbecue appears to be the only thing missing, as police investigate.

And, a break-in happened at a barn on Veteran Drive.

A pick-up truck and horse trailer were rummaged through, with a gas card, and horse tack stolen.

The card has since been cancelled.
