Pride Week Proclamation at Penticton City Hall

For the second year in a row, the City of Penticton has issued a proclamation celebrating Pride Week in the City.

Mayor Andrew Jakubeit was joined by members of the LBGTQ community on the steps of City Hall on Thursday morning to make the announcement.

The Proclamation:

Whereas The City of Penticton is a diverse, accepting and safe community for residents and visitors alike. And whereas pride is a global movement that stands for equality celebration of diversity for lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, intersex, queer, questioning, two spirited and their allies.

And whereas pride is a way to honor and respect all people, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, to recognize their differences and uniqueness, and to promote and build community through education and understanding.

Therefore I, Mayor Andrew Jakubeit, do proclaim August 12th to 19th as Pride Week in the City of Penticton.

Jakubeit says the proclamation reaffirms Penticton's efforts to being a diverse, inclusive and welcoming community.
