Princeton Wildfire Update: Thursday

The wildfire burning near Princeton is now measured at 3,000 hectares, with 10% containment.

That's according to Fire Information Officer Marg Drysdale with the BC Wildfire Service, who says the fire growth is based on crews conducting back-burning operations, as well as some natural growth.

She says the attack today will burn off and mop off areas around the South-West corner, and will continue to build machine guard and lay hose lines around the perimeter of the fire. The primary focus of crews is to build guards in areas close to structures.

Resources for Thursday include 155 firefighters, an incident management team of twelve, nine helicopters, seven water tenders, nineteen pieces of heavy equipment, and twenty-eight industry personnel, with air tanker support as required
