Rugby Team Needs Help getting to Provincials

Success often comes with a cost, and for the provincial championship bound Pen High Senior Boys Rugby Team, that cost is around four thousand dollars to head to the tournament in Abbotsford.

Head Coach Ken Sommerfeldt says the team defied expectation this year, and recently beat Kelowna Secondary to qualify for the provincial tournament, which will be held in Abbotsford at the end of the month.

However, now they have to pay entry fees, and hotel, food and travel costs.

"We never really expected to be in this position at the beginning of the year," says Sommerfeldt. "The last two seasons we didn't win a single game, so going to provincials and the obvious expenses that are involved in that were never something we thought about during the year."

He's looking for businesses or individuals to help them out, and says you can get in contact with the school for more on that.

The provincials start May 31st.
