Penticton – Police in Penticton executed a search warrant at marijuana dispensary, “Green Essence”, located at 409 Martin St.
On September 6th, 2018, the Penticton RCMP’s Community Support & Enforcement Team (CSET), executed a search warrant at “Green Essence”, an illegal marijuana dispensary, 409 Martin St.
An investigation confirmed the storefront did not have a licence to sell marijuana, and that they were selling the drug to anyone, whether they had a medical licence or not.
Over the past several months, Police have afforded the business owner with numerous warnings to cease their selling of the drug.
Seized was approximately 15 pounds of bud marijuana, which was being openly sold to anyone off the street. In addition, numerous kinds of edibles, such as cookies and honey, along with oils and waxes, were also seized. A large amount of cash was also seized. Many of these packaged products were infused with potent amounts of THC, namely “Shatter”.
“Even if marijuana was legal today, the kinds of THC infused products they were openly selling would not be legal even in that framework”, explains Cst. James Grandy.
Staff and patrons who were found inside the establishment were identified, and subsequently released pending further investigation. Charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) are being considered.
Marijuana remains a controlled drug under the CDSA, for which the RCMP have a duty to enforce.
