Suspect in Robbery Apprehended
Police in Penticton and Summerland successfully take suspect into custody who is believed responsible for a robbery involving a vehicle in Penticton on August 26th, 2018.
On August 26th, 2018, Police in Penticton were called to investigate a report of a theft of vehicle involving an assault of the owner. The accused, David Case, who was known to the victim, allegedly forced his way into the victim’s vehicle, assaulting him in the process.
Later that day, Officers spotted the stolen vehicle travelling north on Hwy 97 toward Summerland. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver continued, at a high rate of speed. Due to the danger posed to other motorists, Officers discontinued the pursuit.
On September 2nd, RCMP received information of a man camping out in a forested region in west Summerland. Officers, believing it may be the accused, searched the area and subsequently were successful in arresting Case. The stolen vehicle was located nearby.
Mr. Case was held in custody, and faces charges of Robbery, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police.
