Tour Held at New Cascades Casino in Penticton

The Mayor of Penticton and members of the media were given a sneak peek of the new Cascades Casino that's currently under construction in the South Okanagan Events Center parking lot on Thursday.

The 25-million dollar project includes the gaming areas, a Match Eatery and Public House, complete with two outdoor patios on the roof, and a buffet restaurant. One of the outdoor patios even has a bocce ball pit.

General Manager Michael Magnussen says they originally thought they would need about 300 workers, however, they've hired 340, and they're still recruiting, mostly in kitchen positions.

Mayor Andrew Jakubeit says having the Casino in the South Okanagan Events Center parking lot is turning that area into a hub.

"You have the events center with the Vees, the Convention Center, you have memorial arena, the curling rink, there are hotels nearby," says Jakubeit.

The Casino is set to open on April 5th.

The Casino in the Lakeside will close for three days starting on April 1st, as everything is moved over to the new space.
