Two snowmobilers found by PENSAR after going missing near Allendale Lake
Penticton Search and Rescue were called out on Wednesday night, to look for a pair of snowmobilers in the Okanagan Falls area.
Randy Brown is with PENSAR, and says 15 members from Penticton, as well as 11 from the Oliver and Osoyoos SAR team went out just after 8 pm.
"We had two over-due snowmobilers who were supposed to turn up about 1:30 in the afternoon to meet up with some friends, but they never did," says Brown. "They were reported to be snowmobiling in the Allendale Lake area, which is just to the east of OK Falls."
He says around 11 pm, the two men walked out onto the roadway and were found by SAR crews.
Brown says the men were forced to leave their snow-mobiles behind in the bush, and the walk out was made more difficult because they didn't have any snow-shoes.
He says they were also cold and wet, and reminds to bring extra warm clothing if you're heading into the backcountry.
