Action Continues Against Fires In Glacier National Park
Wildfires continue to cause heavy smoke within Glacier National Park.
Fire staff are managing three fires in the Park, two of which are very visible from Highway One.
Spokesperson Shelley Bird says anyone planning on heading through the Park should check DriveBC ahead of time "You should always check DriveBC before you head out. There's potential for delays and or temporary closures - depending on what's happening in the area."
Bird says that efforts against those three fires have been going well, so far "We're actively managing the fires, and we've been successful with keeping them behind control lines. We're bucketing with water, and using fire retardent on these lines to keep them out of our priority areas. Things are going along smoothly."
Parks says that any motorists looking to watch the flames should only pull over in designated areas, like pull-offs, and rest stops.
