Al Boucher Memorial Playground Build Begins Friday

A playground project in honour of a well-known member of the Shuswap community will begin tomorrow.

Community members will come together to construct a playground at the Canoe Ball Diamonds in honour of Al Boucher.

Boucher passed away as a result of a car accident in February of this year, and was known to many around the region as the former owner of the Blue Canoe Bakery.

Sheena Haines says the build will begin at 8AM on Friday, and will span into Saturday "Anybody who wants to come and help out just basically come prepared to work, so wear good footwear, and probably bring some gloves."

As for the location of this new playground.. "It's going to between the backstops, set in from where the bleachers are, so you'll be able to play ball and keep an eye on your kids at the same time."

A sign dedicating that space as Al Boucher Memorial Field went up back in May.
