Algae And Bacteria Issues Hamper Two Shuswap Recreation Areas

Shuswap Lake water issues in Salmon Arm and Sicamous are curbing some recreational activities.

The City of Salmon Arm has been warning locals about blue-green algae concentrations down by Marine Park since last week.

You're advised not to fish or consume fish from that area, and the City also says that users should consuming any water from that spot.

The City says that contact with that water could also cause skin problems.

The problem in Sicamous relates to high bacteria counts at the beach, and you're advised against swimming.
