Applications Roll In For SASCU's Canada 150 Grant
The Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union is reminding locals about its five-figure Canada 150 Grant.
The funds announced last month give local societies and non-profit groups a chance at $50,000.
CEO Barry Delaney says the grant is about leaving a lasting legacy "We looked around the community and saw lots of wonderful events taking place, but we didn't see anything where there was a project that would leave something permanent behind, where we could look back in a couple of years and say 'Hey, that's because of Canada's 150th anniversary', so we put together some money, and invited the community groups to make a pitch."
He says that the deadline for applications is just over a week away "We've already had about 100 applications downloaded by people in our community, and we are excited to recieve their submissions by April 15th."
The short-list for this grant will be decided later this month, and SASCU members will vote on the winner later this year.
