Boater Missing On Columbia River Presumed To Have Drowned
RCMP in Revelstoke say that the search is over for a boater who is presumed to have drowned.
The 35 year old man from Calgary went missing last Thursday on the Columbia River.
Corporal Thomas Blakney has more weekend search efforts, saying "We had air, land, and water searches throughout Saturday - until an anticipated storm at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, so we ceased our search at that time."
He says that some locals continued to search "There has been some volunteers with Search and Rescue with their own boats that have gone out there and are still looking on their own time."
Police believe that the missing man may have had to shed his lifejacket to remove heavier clothing that would have limited his ability to swim.
Blakney says that the RCMP helicopter will check up on certain areas when possible.
