Boil Water Notice Issued For Sorrento Water System

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District has provided more details on a boil water notice affecting Sorrento residents.

CSRD Utilities Team Leader Terry Langlois has background on Tuesday's announcement, saying "The boil water notice in Sorrento is a direct result of the washout that has happened on Newsome Creek. It's causing some debris flow down into the water, resulting in some poor water quality in the Sorrento area."

Langlois says it's an issue that will be monitored on a day-to-day basis "Typically when turbidity levels go above 5-MTU that results in a boil water notice, right now the turbidity in Sorrento is about 15, so it's pretty murky right now."

He says that those on the Sorrento Water System are advised to take precautions "We recommed anybody using water in Sorrento should be boiling their water for a minute before they use it."
