Brush Burning At Mount Revelstoke May Bring Local Smoke

Revelstoke residents could see some smoke coming from Mount Revelstoke this week.

Parks Canada says that brush pile burning for fire mitigation was set to begin today.

Spokesperson Shelley Bird says it's nothing to worry about "Along the base of Mount Revelstoke they'll be burning some brush piles. It's pretty wet here, we've had a lot of rain recently, so it's good conditions to do this burning."

Parks and BC Wildfire staff have spent that past few weeks clearing brush for these burns.

Bird says that the burning could go on throughout this week, and into next week.
