Campfire Ban Ends As Open Burning Ban Continues

The B.C Wildfire Service moved to end a number of campfire prohibitions, last week.

As of last Friday campfires are now allowed within the Kamloops Fire Centre, and Columbia Fire Zone of the Southeast Fire Centre, which covers both Golden and Revelstoke.

CSRD Fire Services Co-ordinator Sean Coubrough notes that anyone having a campfire still needs to be cautious, saying "We are coming into the Winter season, and until the snow is on the ground there's still going to be some risk there."

He's also reminding the public about the ban on open burns, saying "Open burning is still prohibited, so anything over .5 metres wide by .5 metres high - there's still restrictions in place for that."
