City Likely To Set Date For First Input Session On Plastic Bag Ban

The City of Salmon Arm is set to take another step towards its ban on single-use plastic shopping bags.

Monday's agenda will see a motion for the first public input session on the matter.

Mayor Alan Harrison says he expects it go ahead, saying "I'm pretty sure Council will agree.. we're going to have a public input session on April 23rd, 6pm at City Hall. We're hoping that lots of people will come out - businesses, retailers, consumers - and let us know what they're thinking about as far as our proposed bylaw."

The City is also encouraging comments through email, via reusablebags@salmonarm.ca.

The Mayor says that formal input on the issue has been a bit slow, but that informal input has been regular, and positive.
