Construction Begins On Blackburn Park Picnic Shelter

Salmon Arm's Blackburn Park will soon have a new picnic shelter.

It's thanks to the Rotary Club of Salmon Arm.

President Patrick Webb has word on their involvement, saying "We put $50,000 into it, and the City matched-up and put a little bit extra on top of that. The whole idea is to get this picnic shelter done so that people can go there and - you know it does rain in Salmon Arm every once and awhile - so they can go there with their families and enjoy a nice place to be able to enjoy the park."

He tells us that construction began on Wednesday, saying "We've anticipated that it will probably be done within in a month, but obviously we have to wait for weather and other conditions to clear up. It will be done definitely before this summer."

It's to be located right next to Blackburn's splash park.
