CSRD And RDNO Reach Agreement On CP Rail Corridor

Thursday saw the Regional District of the North Okanagan and the CSRD announce a conditional agreement for the purchase of the CP Rail Corridor between Sicamous and Armstrong.

The total cost is of the purchase is $6.5 million dollars, with the Provincial Government kicking in $2.17 Million.

The RDNO and the CSRD have agreed to split the remaining cost, which will see each pay just over $2M.

Thursday's release does state that there is long-term potential to connect this corridor to the exisiting Okanagan Rail Trail.

Both District's plan to pay for their portion of the purchase via borrowing, which will need to be authorized by voters.
