Dog Walking Ban On Foreshore Trail Begins April 15th
The Easter weekend may have brought snow for the Shuswap, but the calendar does say that it's Spring.
For Salmon Arm dog-owners, that means a coming change in walking rules on the foreshore trail - near Christmas Island.
Phil McIntye-Paul with the Shuswap Trail Alliance says a ban on dog-walking for that trail begins on the 15th "Folks can still walk the trail, but the request is to not have dogs on the trail, so that the nesting birds in the area have all the room that we can possibly give them to do what they do best - which is lay eggs and make that a remarkable area."
That closure period finishes up in the middle of June, once the nesting season ends.
