Eagle Bay Aircraft Found After 31 Years
A missing aircaft located in Wells Gray Provincial Park is connected to the Shuswap.
The white Piper Super Cub was found on September 18th, while the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was searching for a separate aircraft missing out of Alberta.
Police say that the aircraft had been missing since 1987, after taking off from Eagle Bay with two passengers.
The two occupants, from Eagle Bay, were 78 year old Ernie Whitehead and 55 year old Len Dykhuizen.
The RCMP have been working with the Coroner's Service and Search and Rescue staff to reach that site, but weather conditions have created issues.
The families of those two men have been notified, and efforts to reach that site will resume in the Spring.
