Emergency Services Food Drive Hits New Peak

The annual Community Connections Food Drive in Revelstoke was Tuesday night, and organizers are quite pleased with the results.

Patti Larson says that this has been their most productive year ever "We collected just over 12,000lbs of food. In previous years we've almost gotten that amount at 11,800lbs, so this year we've actually exceeded that, so I'm very happy. We collected over $5,000 in cash."

Larson says that changing the event to cover only one night instead of two seems to have worked just fine.

She notes that the all-time totals for the fundraiser are adding up "74,000lbs of food over the past seven years, and $35,000 in cash donations."

Larson says that over 300 people volunteered on Tuesday night.

25% of the Food Bank's resources for the year come from this one event.
