Evacuation Alert Remains For Galena Bay Area

The B.C Wildfire Service has offered an update on a fire burning Southeast of Galena Bay.

This fire forced the CSRD to issue an Evacuation Alert for Galena Bay residents on Saturday.

Carlee Kachman with the Southeast Fire Centre has details on Tuesday's efforts "It's currently at 169 hectares, and it's a lightning-caused fire. Today there are 16 personnel on site, with the aid of two helicopters, and two pieces of heavy equipment."

A morning email from the Revelstoke and Area Emergency Management Program said that crews had good success on the fire yesterday, and that staff had actioned about three-quarters of the fire's Western Flank.

A map of the Evacuation Alert area, and details on how to prepare during this warning is available via this link.

Further updates on this Alert are likely to come later today.
