Fire In Mount Revelstoke National Park Hits 200 Hectares

Parks Canada has updated two fires burning within our local National Parks.

Spokesperson Shelley Bird says that the Clachnacudainn Creek East fire in Mount Revelstoke National Park is now 200 hectares in size, but isn't much of a concern, saying "The fire is actually helping clean up that area, and is creating a nice fire-break along the Trans-Canada valley there, so it's sitting in a good place right now."

There's also a fire in the Beaver Valley region of Glacier National Park, and Bird says "It's about 30 hectares in size, with no risk to people or assets in that area. It's quite deep in the back-country."

We will be sure to bring you further updates on those fires if necessary.
