Fresh Forestry Training Funds For Shuswap And Revelstoke
B.C's Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation has committed six-figure funding to local forestry training.
Wednesday's announcement will see $749,872 go towards paid training opportunities through Okanagan College.
This new funding will give 16 unemployed people in the Revelstoke and Shuswap areas 16 weeks of paid forestry training, along with 10 weeks of on-the-job work experience.
Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo said in a release that "This is a unique opportunity for a group of people to learn new skills in forestry and then be able to put them to work in a real-world environment, and I'm sure it will pay dividends in their lives once the project is complete."
