Good Samaritans End Highway One Crime-Spree

RCMP in Golden say that a number of good samaritans helped with the Tuesday arrest of a man who was fleeing from Police.

It all began with a report of a hit and run near Revelstoke, that reportedly involved a vehicle stolen out of Vernon.

Police were told that the vehicle was travelling towards Golden, and were also told of a second hit and run incident.

The RCMP deployed spike-belts at a checkpoint 55km's West of Golden, and deflated three of the vehicle's tires.

The stolen vehicle kept moving though, eventually stopping East of Golden where the driver attempted a car-jacking.

Police say that the attempted theft turned into a fight with other motorists, and that five people held down the suspect until they arrived.

21 year old Raven Beaverbones of Alberta faces numerous charges, and further charges could be laid.

Golden RCMP are thanking those members of the public who assisted in the arrest.

That suspect is due to appear in court later this month.
