Head-On Collision Near Canoe Claims One Life

RCMP have confirmed that one person died in a Monday night accident East of Salmon Arm.

Police say that it was just before Midnight when a Westbound truck hit an Eastbound commercial vehicle near Canoe.

The 55 year old driver of the truck died of his injuries on scene, while three other occupants suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say that the pick-up truck likely crossed the centre-line, causing the head-on collision.

The driver of the commercial vehicle is not believed to have suffered any injuries.

That accident left a portion of Highway One closed for about eight hours.

The Coroner's Service and the RCMP's Trans-Canada East Traffic Services are now investigating.
