Heat Sport New Look In Support Of Local Legion
The KIJHL's Chase Heat have been showing off some new jerseys as of late.
The team will spend November gathering bids on the camoflage sweaters that hold a link to the military.
Team President Scott Koch says that a local sponsor covered the cost of the jerseys "He said he'd be really interested in doing something along the lines of recognizing his younger brother's contribution; who went and did a tour in Afghanistan for the Canadian Army."
Koch says that any funds raised from the sale of those sweaters will stay close to home "He indicated that he wished to have the money go to the Poppy Fund of the Royal Canadian Legion here in Chase - to assist Veterans."
He says that the players and community seem to be big fans of the new look.
The jerseys are a grey camo, and are a far reach from the Heat's usual black and red look.
Anyone wanting to put in a bid can contact the Heat via their website.
The auction will close at the end of this month.
