Salmon Arm is set to see some new affordable housing.

The Ministry of Housing is currently working on 67-units along 3rd St SW, which will be open to families, seniors and those with disabilities.

Their next project will see a 38-units built in an adjacent building for those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

CMHA is set to operate the entire site, and Executive Director Dawn Dunlop has more on their role, saying "Tenant selection, landlord-tenant engagement, creating a health community and collecting the rent. For the supportive it'll be also providing additional support services to help people be successful in housing."

Dunlop tells us that location is key in these plans "When we put in this proposal for this housing we were very mindful of access and location, and being available for services and programs for people to access support."

Construction completion is expected for winter of 2020.
