IIO Tasked Following Incident In Sicamous

A Tuesday Police incident in Sicamous is now under investigation by B.C's Independent Investigations Office.

Police were called around 11:30 Tuesday morning about a male who was threatening to harm himself with a knife.

RCMP attended the scene and found a male with what looked to be self-inflicted wounds.

That man then ran from Police while continuing to injure himself with the weapon.

Officers eventually detained the male at a nearby gas station, and he was later hospitalized for an assessment.

The IIO is now set to investigate if the actions of Police contributed to that man's injuries.
