Lengthy Weekend Call Ends With Rescue Of Two Sledders
A weekend call for Shuswap Search and Rescue near Malakwa.
Staff were told Saturday night of two sledders missing near the Blue Lake Cabin
Spokesperson John Schut has more, saying "They had gone down a ravine or a drainage, about 3km past the Blue Lake Cabin."
Schut says that the first man was pulled from the area on a snowmobile at around 1:15am, while the second was airlifted out the following morning "They were in good condition. The second subject had actually tried to go for a walk, so post-holing through deep snow, but they were alright."
He calls it a long night for searchers, with most working all night and not getting home until 6am.
Shuswap Search and Rescue was supported by Vernon Search and Rescue, the Eagle Valley Snowmobile Club, and search staff out of Revelstoke.
