Mayor Mark McKee Says He Will Not Seek Re-Election

Revelstoke's Mayor Mark McKee announced this morning that he does not plan on seeking re-election this Fall.

McKee is in his third stint as Mayor, having served consecutive terms between 2002 and 2008.

Here's the official word from McKee as of Friday morning "I have decided that I am not going to be seeking re-election as Mayor. It's been fun, it's been interesting. It's time for somebody else to step in and carry on."

McKee took 47.4% of the vote in 2014, but says that another full-term is not in his interest "Me personally, four years is a long term. I have difficulty signing up for an additional four years, it's a long time."

He says that he's more than willing to make himself available to anyone looking to get involved in local politics.

McKee says he plans to spend more time with his family.

This year's Municipal Elections are set for October 20th.
