New Highway Legacy Sign Commemorates Internment Camp

Friday saw the Ministry of Transportation unveil its final sign in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Japanese-Canadian internment during the second World War.

The new sign, just West of Three Valley Gap, at the Rutherford Beach rest area, shares the story of the Revelstoke-Sicamous Road Camp, and the men who were forced to work there in the 40's.

It's the final sign to go up in an effort that's seen seven other signs go up around B.C.

About 500 men were sent to work at that camp.
