New Mayor Reports On Cannabis Applications And TCH Work

Salmon Arm's fresh City Council was sworn in this week.

New Mayor Alan Harrison spoke with us Tuesday about applications for cannabis stores.

None of the three applications before Council this week came from pre-existing stores.

Harrison says Council has approved two stores downtown, while rejecting a third uptown "We certainly approve the two downtown stores - they fit all of our criteria. The one up by the Mac's store we did not approve to move ahead because it's outside of the area where we want them located, and it's close to schools."

One downtown store is set for the other side of the Eco-Treats building, the other is to be within the Salmon Arm Liquor Store on Lakeshore.

Harrison also shared news on Highway One pre-load work to Salmon Arm's West, saying "The contract was just awarded to a large firm out of Chilliwack, and we are hopeful that we will have gravel dropped there before Christmas."

Council gets back to work next Tuesday.
