North Okanagan Police Again Warn Of Ongoing Scams
Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP are sending out a reminder about a number of scams still hitting our area.
Police say that locals should be aware of the Canada Revenue scam, the emergency scam, and the prize scam.
The CRA scam relates to someone contacting you about money owed to Canada Revenue.
The emergency scam usually targets grandparents, and sees scammers claim to be a family member in need of help.
The prize scam is any form of communication that involves an upfront fee before you collect your prize.
The RCMP are reminding locals that if it seems to good to be true, then it usually is.
Anyone wanting to report or learn more about ongoing scams should look up the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
